Our clinic in Lucerne, Switzerland combines plastic and aesthetic facial surgery with individual consultation and treatment under one roof.

The shape of the nose has a central influence on the harmony of the face. The aim of aesthetic rhinoplasty is to shape the nose so that it blends naturally and harmoniously into the individual facial profile.

Our goal: to improve your quality of life and find a nose shape that suits your face.

When is rhinoplasty appropriate?

The nose shapes the face like no other feature. If it is too large, has a pronounced hump or appears too wide at the tip, the entire facial profile can appear unbalanced. Many people find such aesthetic inconsistencies very disturbing, often for many years.

As a plastic surgeon, my focus is on the external shape of the nose. The aim of aesthetic nose correction (rhinoplasty) is to change the nose so that it fits the face and enhances the individual beauty of the face. Every correction is planned and performed with great sensitivity with an awareness of the central role of the nose in the face.

Functional impairments such as difficulty breathing through the nose or a deviated septum can be taken into account in cooperation with an ENT specialist if necessary, but the focus is always on the aesthetic improvement of the externally visible nose.

The procedure for nose surgery in Lucerne, Switzerland

A nose correction is a sensitive procedure that requires great care in planning and execution. The operation is usually performed under general anaesthesia and is carried out on an outpatient basis or with an overnight stay in the clinic.

The desired change in shape is achieved by precisely modelling the bony and cartilaginous structures of the nose. This allows the external shape of the nose to be gently adjusted, always with the aim of achieving a natural and balanced result in harmony with the face.

At the end of the operation, a customised nasal splint or plaster cast is applied, which is worn for around a week. After that, slight swelling remains for a few weeks, but this is not noticeable in everyday life. The aim is to harmoniously adjust the shape of the nose so that it fits in with your face and improves your quality of life, both functionally and aesthetically.

Nose correction with experience and sensitivity

The nose is one of the most distinctive features of the face. This makes a careful, individualised approach all the more important. Changes to the external nose are purely aesthetic and are performed personally by Dr Eva Rüegg (PD), who has many years of experience working with patients to achieve harmonious facial proportions.

Every face is unique, which is why we take the time to plan carefully, implement precisely and provide transparent aftercare, so that you are in the best hands. In rare cases where additional functional aspects such as impaired nasal breathing play a role, the treatment is carried out in close consultation with an experienced ENT specialist in Switzerland.

Frequently asked questions about rhinoplasty in Lucerne

Healing after rhinoplasty is individual and occurs in several stages. The procedure is usually performed on an outpatient basis or with an overnight stay in our clinic.

Immediately after the operation, a customised nasal splint or plaster cast is applied in the operating theatre to stabilise the new shape. Patients usually wear this splint at home for about a week. After about seven days, it is carefully removed at our practice.

Slight swelling and discolouration of the face usually subside within one to two weeks. The final healing process, i.e. the complete adaptation of the cartilage structure and reduction of swelling in the nasal tissue, takes 6 to 12 months. During this time, the nasal profile continues to refine until the final result is visible.

Consistent aftercare and adherence to our recommendations optimally support the healing process.

Thanks to modern and gentle surgical techniques, precise diagnostics and gentle general anaesthesia, rhinoplasty is now a well-tolerated treatment.

In the first few days after the procedure, you may experience a slight feeling of tension due to swelling in the area of the nostrils and the tip of the nose. You may also feel pressure in your head or have a slight runny nose. However, these symptoms can usually be treated effectively with cooling and painkillers.

As with any surgical procedure, rhinoplasty carries certain risks, including post-operative bleeding, infection, or temporary wound healing disorders. However, these risks can be significantly reduced through modern and gentle techniques, careful planning, and many years of experience in plastic and aesthetic facial surgery.

Each rhinoplasty is planned individually and performed with the utmost precision, with the aim of achieving an aesthetically pleasing result and making the healing process as safe as possible.

The cost of rhinoplasty depends on various factors: the extent of the procedure, the technique chosen, the initial findings, and whether additional functional aspects such as the nasal septum or nasal breathing need to be treated.

We will provide you with a cost estimate during your personal consultation. Our goal is to make the best quality treatment available to every patient.

Rhinoplasty require precision, aesthetic sensitivity and many years of experience. At our clinic in Lucerne, all aesthetic procedures are performed personally by PD Dr Eva Rüegg, a proven expert with extensive experience in the field of plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery.

If there is accompanying nasal breathing obstruction, the procedure can be performed in conjunction with an ear, nose and throat (ENT) specialist. This ensures that both functional and aesthetic goals are achieved.

Our patients appreciate the individual consultation, the finely tuned approach and the combination of medical precision and human touch.
